Solar Rebates- Brisbane

In June 2010, the Parliament passed legislation to separate the RET into two parts which commence on 1 January 2011 – the Large scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET) and the Small scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).

The changes are intended to provide greater certainty for households, large-scale renewable energy projects and installers of small-scale renewable energy systems.

Solar Credits

Solar Credits provide additional support to households, businesses and community groups that install small renewable energy generation units, such as rooftop solar panels, and small scale wind and hydro electricity systems.

On 1 December 2010, the Government announced changes to the Solar Credits multiplier which will apply from 1 July 2011.

The Australian Government is supporting the deployment of more renewable energy throughout Australia with the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme. The RET scheme will help ensure that the equivalent of at least 20 per cent of Australia’s electricity supply comes from renewable sources by 2020.

Queensland Renewable Energy Plan

The Queensland Renewable Energy Plan is a comprehensive economic and industry development strategy aimed at accelerating the growth of the renewable energy sector in Queensland. The successful implementation of the Plan will help leverage up to $3.5 billion in new investment, create up to 3,500 new jobs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Solar Bonus Scheme

The Queensland Government Solar Bonus Scheme pays households and other small customers for the surplus electricity generated from roof-top solar photovoltaic (PV) panel systems that is exported to the Queensland electricity grid.

The scheme is designed to make solar power more affordable for Queenslanders, stimulate the solar power industry and encourage energy efficiency.
