How thermostatic mixing valves work:

A thermostatic mixing valve calculates hot and cold water input flows to ensure the correct output temperature. While hot water storage is required at 60 degrees Celsius to inhibit Legionella bacteria growth, the safe tap water temperature should not exceed 50 degrees Celsius to prevent scalding.
Fallon Solutions conducts thermostatic valve testing to verify that your hot water meets the correct temperature standards.

Who needs a thermostatic mixing valve?

Fallon Solutions recommends installing a thermostatic valve on all hot water systems in homes and businesses to prevent burns and scalding. These valves need to regulate outlets at temperatures no greater than 50 degrees Celsius in domestic settings and 45 degrees Celsius in places such as:

  • Early childhood centres
  • Primary and Secondary schools
  • Hospitals
  • Nursing homes
  • Facilities housing the young, aged, sick, or disabled.

Yearly testing requirements:

Thermostatic mixing valves must be installed and serviced annually to comply with the National Plumbing and Drainage Code AS 3500. According to legislation, these valves require servicing and maintenance at intervals no greater than 12 months. Our administration team can schedule annual maintenance, ensuring compliance with relevant legislations.
