Upfront price of Solar to rise in 2011!
08-Dec-2010
From July 1 2011, the solar credits scheme will be scaled back - reducing average rebates to households installing a 1.5 kilowatt system in Brisbane from $6200 to $5000.
Under the Solar Credits amendments, support for household solar installations will begin to be phased out a year earlier than previously planned. Mr Combet (Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency) said the Solar Credits multiplier would be reduced from five times to four times from 1 July 2011 in recognition of significant reductions in the cost of solar panels.
It is not too late to still recieve your full rebate. You need to have your solar panel system installed by the cut off date to still ensure you can recieve REC’s if they are lodged on time.
REC’s lodged after the due date will not recieve the full credit, making your solar around $1200 more expensive after July 2011!
