Are you considering getting Solar PV Panels fitted to your roof? If so, you'd better act before the end of June 2012 to ensure you maximise your solar credits.

The Solar Credits multiplier is set to reduce on the 1 July 2012!

Small Scale Technology Credits (STC's) are allocated to each solar panel installation. These credits can be sold to help offset the cost of installing the panel, or in most cases the installer gives you a discount and handles the sale on your behalf. The number of STC's you get is calculated with a multiplier. This multiplier is set to reduce from 3 to 2 on the 1st July 2012 (having reduced from 4 to 3 on the 1st July 2011). This multiplier will continue to reduce by 1 every year until there is no multiplier left.

So in a nutshell, the cost of installing a Solar PV system to your roof is going to go up on the 1st July 2012. So if you are thinking of getting one, it needs to be installed before then.
