The Qld State Government has scrapped the Solar Hot Water Program because of the huge funding gap created by the Federal Government's withdrawal of support.
Under the failed scheme consumers could replace functioning electric hot water systems with expensive green-house gas efficient water heaters such as solar and heat-pump. The problem is they had to use a government registered installer to take advantage of special pricing arrangements.
The withdrawal of State and Federal Support for solar and heat pump installations as well as the huge drop in price recently for renewable energy certificates (RECs) make replacing electric hot water systems with electric or gas hot water systems much more economical although they may not be as environmentally friendly.
Please contact our office to discuss your options for your new hot water system and to understand the costs for electric versus gas versus heat pump or solar after all rebates and RECs.
