Springwood sits at the end of the South East Freeway, Brisbane

Springwood is south of Brisbane in the Logan City municipality - originally a large area of scrub with plenty of wildlife, including wild horses, and a spring through the middle of the area - giving the suburb its name.

Now a major residential area 20km from Brisbane CBD, Springwood has three primary schools, a high school and two major shopping centres. The first shopping centre and the Springwood Hotel started business in 1974 with the Springwood Mall and Springwood Post Office opening for business in the mid-80s.

The suburb is situated at the end of the South East Freeway which links Brisbane to the Gold Coast. Springwood has a regular bus service and nearby Woodridge provides transport by rail north to Brisbane CBD or south to the Gold Coast..
